This staircase in NYC is so awesome! I wish I had seen it when I was there.

Women Laughing Alone with Salad
Posted by
Maggie
The following are stock photos that were rounded up by the lovelies at the The Hairpin that depict models laughing while alone with a salad.
You heard me.
You heard me.
I'm so good at tossing salad, I could do it with my eyes closed. Instead, I will look at nothing in particular while chuckling. |
Isn't this cucumber slice hilarious? |
Dieting is so FUN! |
I make broccoli look sexy. Sometimes, I even serenade it. |
Now, I'm all for salads; they're one of my go-to meals. Giant pile of lettuce + oil and vinegar is the perfect lunch for a lazy, lazy lady like me. However, I've never really encountered a baby spring mix with a sense of humor. Am I missing something?

This is...unfortunate.

I'm now going to use this as an excuse for why I don't exercise.

I've been coveting these Marais flats for weeks, but I can't buy flats without trying them on first because my feet are so narrow :( Thoughts?

Veggie Pasta
Posted by
Maggie
I made my all-time favorite dish for dinner tonight: veggie pasta!
I was first introduced to this recipe when I was in elementary school, thanks to my friend's dad, an employee of the Driskill's deli. Driskill's is now Kowalski's, which makes me sad.
So, rather than buying a pint of salad from the store, I make my own! My friend's dad wonderfully gave me the recipe for this salad, and I've made it for every gathering/party I've ever been to since.
Prep Time: 20 minutes
First, you're going to want to start some water boiling for your pasta. While that's heating up, start cutting up all of your veggies, adding them to a giant bowl or pot as you go along.
Drain the pasta and rinse with cold water. Once it's cooled down a bit, you can add it to the veggie mix.
Once the pasta and all of your veggies are combined, dress them in the zesty italian. I typically use up the whole bottle, but you may want to use less because I'm somewhat of a dressing fiend.
Enjoy!
You know you wanna eat this. |

Slice those tomatoes! |
Tommy-toes and cukies ready to go |
Servings: about 12 (more like 8 if you're me...)
Ingredients:
1 12 oz. package rainbow rotini
12 oz. cherry tomatoes, quartered
8 oz. baby carrots, sliced into 1/2" rounds
8 oz. broccoli wokly, giant chunks broken up
2 cucumbers, sliced and quartered
1 green pepper, chopped
1 red, orange, or yellow pepper, chopped
1 jar green olives
1 can sliced black olives
1 16 oz. bottle zesty italian dressing
Evidence of total vegetable domination |
Once the water's ready, cook the pasta for 10-12 minutes (or to package specifications) until al dente.
Rainbow rotini is only three different colors... |
Gettin' zesty |
All dressed up with nowhere to go |

I want to go to there

Maggie
When I'm stuck at home in the US, I get overwhelming amounts of wanderlust. So, I'll be regularly posting interesting locales that I would totally jet off to if I had the money (or the vacation time)!
To start, here's some inspiration from the fjord towns in Norway:
Bergen
Langfoss
Stavanger
A lot of people would probably think this is a really awful time to be in Norway, but I think this would be a really good time to offer them monetary support with tourism. My thoughts are with all of the grieving families there, and I hope that the stillness of these beautiful landscapes can offer them some semblance of peace.

À la folie, pas du tout

Maggie
I realized I should probably take a moment to explain the etymology of my username: "madlyornatatall"
"Madly or not at all," is my translation of a line from the French version of "He loves me, he loves me not." That line in particular applies both to romance and my outlook on life in general :)
il m'aime un peu

à la folie
pas du tout
he loves me a little
a lot
passionately
madly
not at all
My favorite thing about this little difference in petal-plucking traditions is that while Americans give themselves a 50% chance of being loved, the French give themselves an 80% chance of being loved at least a little bit. I think I prefer their method.
xo
P.S. There's also a french film called, "À la folie...pas du tout," starring Audrey Tatou (Amélie) that I really enjoyed:

I sleep with a mouthguard

"Guard" is an odd word, spelling-wise. In no way would you suspect that it contained a "u." It doesn't require one, and in no way is it pronounced. English is a fairly stupid language that I'm cursed with relying upon above all others.
This is attempt number 5,248 at encouraging myself to write more often. I keep hoping that I'll get caught up in the romantic notion of a hand-written journal, but it just doesn't work for me. By the time my writing catches up with my thoughts, the two things are no longer at all related, and I've lost whatever (potentially) sensible material existed therein.

I have a Katy Perry song somewhat stuck in my head, which is unfortunate on many levels, the worst of which being that I only know about one line. It's on repeat. It's not great. I mean, it wasn't at all good to begin with, and its reiteration is just cementing the fact that it's garbage. Really catchy, fun garbage.Thank you, Katy, for encouraging me to drink "too many shots."
I should go to sleep, as this is just an introductory rambling in the hope that I will continue on in the future. However, at the moment, my eyes hurt. I will probably read for awhile after posting this, but that's irrelevant; book-induced eyeball pain is much less severe than computer-induced eyeball pain.
Have a lovely evening xo
